Introduction (Logitech G1 story, here we go)
Logitech is one of the well-known brand names in computer peripherals, representing high quality products. For years I trust Logitech quality. I have an old style Logitech mouse, I use it for almost 10 years, until now I still use it sometimes. Also I bought some other Logitech products, Logitech do a good job, and they become good partner of my life.

Actually, new G1 has been upgraded to 1000 dpi, however, the old edition is 800 dpi, this mouse greatly move into a high level. In terms of performance, the new G1 has improved which is more performance than the old version of G1 and far beyond the level of Logitech MX510.
The design is not very ergonomic, but it's comfortable when you use the mouse. It can be used by all people, left or right handed people altogether and, even if it really is a gaming mouse, it does have good performance in general use, programming, I say.

It's simple to hold and use. G1 is not too big, not small either. So it gives you very good control. G1 has good performance with different type game, such as RTS and FPS and so on, StarCraft, WarCraft, Dota, CS, COD, ARMA...
In my opinion G1 also has very good performance in general use. Besides, Some programmer also like G1. I think G1 is a good partner in daily life. When you hard learning or working, thinking and coding. It’s easy to locate your cursor to any part of program code or the web page. When you programming a function, you will feel free to write your code with G1 mouse. For example, if your constructor uses new to allocate memory, the destructor should use delete to free that. Btw, don’t forget use delete, or your program may give you surprise.
I like G1 whenever I play game or general use. If you wanna feel how is G1, you’d better try it yourself, becuase sense as personal feeling can be different sometimes. So I will give you some of my personal feeling first, if you have some words to say, just let us know. Acutally, it’s a big topic, maybe I need to write more detail about it with another post. As it’s for me, I’m glad to get a little improvement of my APM, such as playing StarCraft, tracks everything literally. especially, it’s not too heavey, I think G1 has really good performance with some games. Compare with some heavy mouse, you won’t feel too tired after long time gaming.
Some RTS ,FPS game, and so on.
StarCraft: don’t need to explain more, lots of professional gamers show us how perfect G1 is. WarCraft, Dota and CS, even WOW, we have the same reason to choose G1. You can trust G1.
Arma/SWAT/HD2SS: I need G1 whenever I’m in enemy territory. I feel comfortable and safe with my mouse. Kinda like a real warrior.
LFS: control with G1 is not bad, but a wheel equipment can be better.
IL2/Falcon/LO/FS: as a gunner it’s good to play IL2. While these kind of game is much complex. As a pilot I think Joystick is better choice. Flying and shooting.
Top Spin2: TS2 is different from TS1 design, so a mouse is necessary to control.
I have a Logitech gamepad and it’s much better for playing TS2. In fact I play some sports game with gamepad instead of keyboard+mice.

Part II
Software Installation (optional, my Logitech G1 software introduction)
Don’t worry, G1 driver work very well with lots of operating system. Such as Windows 7 (64-bit system/32-bit), XP, Vista, 2000 and so on. These are some screenshot from my computer, I may post more later.
Installation is easy enough. Simply plug in the new one! In any case, the G1 will work perfectly with either the USB or PS2 connection interface. Logitech, unfortunately, doesn't offer driver CD in the package (probably to keep retail package costs down?). While the drivers are not mandatory in order for the G1 mouse to work, they do offer some additional capabilities, and you can set a special function for each button. After visiting the Logitech website, I noticed that the latest Logitech Setpoint driver package was available, the last version update to v4.90.80, for instance windows 7 64-bit version 25.5MB , 32-bit 23.6 MB. It’s easy to download from official link. Choose your Operating System and then begin download.

After installing, the logitech Setpoint software is available so that you can configure all functions of your mouse. As you can see, now you can assign your own function with Logitech perfect software support. G1 has 4 button and one wheel. You can explor G1 software from now on.
Pointer Acceleration: if you feel it’s too fast when you play game, I recommend you set it as my photo, here I choose “None”.
Pointer Speed: set your own speed.

Part III
DIY (optional, follow your own idea)
G1 is design for long time move, perhaps some people may think it’s a little light. If you wanna make it heavy or set your own weight, we can DIY it.
You can find a metal weight from other Logitech mouse and fix it in G1. If you don’t have one, that’s ok, just put other weight into the mouse. Pay attention, don't hurt the mouse inside or lost equipment.
